About Southern Districts

Download the Constitution (PDF)
The Southern Districts Club has been established for over 35 years in a variety of motor sport disciplines, with the club first incorporating in 1966.
We promote and encourage activities between club members while fostering courtesy and friendship on the public roads. The club is open to all age groups and car makes. It does not matter if you are a beginner or a National Champion. We welcome all walks of life with competition starting at 12yrs of age for Motorkhanas and 14yrs for khanacross.
SDCC promote and run a variety of events, ranging from Motorkhanas (arguably the cheapest form of motor sport) to Khanacross and Rallies. We also have a social coordinator who organisers a range of social events thought the year that are advertised in our monthly magazine. We also encourage all
members to select other social nights.
SDCC offers come and try days, training in event command, scrutineering, stewarding, event documentation and general official duties, and the opportunity to experience vehicle control in a safe environment.
Junior Development Program
Download the JDP Flyer (PDF)
Since 2005, SDCC have run a Junior Development Program (JDP) where Juniors are taught the basics of driving a car around a motorkhana and khanacross course, with the aim of promoting a responsible attitude towards motor vehicles in the community and to encourage Juniors into motorsport. For further information on the JDP and coming dates please email jdp@sdcc.asn.au.
Motorkhana
| A motorkhana is a test of braking, manoeuvrability, and driver control through a series of tests. We hold dirt competitions. The cost is about $20 for a day where you may get up to 12 runs. This is a great way to develop and enhance car control skills while having plenty of fun. Dirt events are held at Lanac Park and Echidna Springs, and sealed events are held on concrete in the Big W Distribution Centre, Monarto. Both street registered and non-registered cars can compete. |

Khanacross
 |
A Khanacross still involves car control but around a permanent circuit with a slalom of cones to keep the speed down along the straights. It provides a higher speed element, still against a stopwatch. We hold these competitions at Lanac Park (near Mt Compass) and street cars can compete. The cost for a day is about $40. Khanacross events can also be used for Observed License Tests for those who have applied for a National Rally License. Spectators are free to come and enjoy one of the fastest growing, cheaper events available. |
Rally
The Southern Rally is run over a course of dirt roads and forest trails in and around the Kuitpo Forest area. This event is a test of Driver and Co-Driver over a course of dirt roads and forest trails.
The competitive length of the event is approximately 120km and costs about $450 to enter. We have a range of entrants including turbo-charged 4wd’s, V8's, and the ever popular Datsuns and Escorts. This event is a round of the South Australian Rally Championship and the SA Clubman Rally Series.
The Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally is one of the highlights of the SDCC calendar. Held over 2 days, the competitive length of the event is approximately 130km. Entries include performance vehicles like Porches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris, right through to the classic Datsuns and Escorts. Attracting both local and interstate competitors, the event has earned a place in the Australian Classic Tarmac Championship, as well as well as being a round of the South Australian Rally Championship and the sole event in the SA Tarmac Championship.
For further information on the requirements for rally cars download the 2010 Conditions of Rallying (PDF). |

Officials
SDCC offers the chance to become an official in many aspects of motorsport. If you do not want to compete, we provide training and positions available in timing, control,
event command and scrutineering. Become a part of motor sport as an official and enjoy the sights and sounds without the cost of a competition vehicle.
Our officials also help at major events like the Clipsal 500 and the Scouts Rally SA.
Remember - these events are run by volunteers. We need help from volunteers like yourself to make them happen.
